Grunge

Influences such as the Stooges, MC5, Sabbath, the Ramones...

Orville Lee : 'Grunge' or 'alternative' rock can be traced back to the the the 1960's and 70's with the emergence of garage rock and the dominance of classic rock on airwaves. Leading influences can be traced to artists like The Stooges, MC5, The Who, The Beatles, and later Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath.

The seed was planted for what was to become grunge rock but the 70's and 80's would bring even more ingredients. Neil Young would later be referenced as a strong contributer as well as early KISS (Alive). But what would be the main contributer would be punk rock and bands like The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, Television, and so on.
