Aerosmith

From USA

Listed under : Hard Rock 1970-1980

Sunshine : Aerosmith is probably one of the most dynamic bands of our time... to start off with, they've lasted for years. Yes, the Stones have lasted in the same way, but Aerosmith's roots are firm. Their release of a blues album early next year is sure evidence of how they've taken a sound, polished it, and redefined it. And it's more than just people from their day that listen to them!

Mr Fuzzbox : Aerosmith deserve a high ranking in the History of Rock mainly due to their perseverance and continued success. Personally, even though I discovered them in the late '80s after Permanent Vacation came out, I much prefer the work they did in the 70s to what they have put out in the 90s onwards. Still, they have adapted and their new found success is well deserved. Still, if you want to get to know their best work, I'd recommend looking at "Rocks", "Toys in the Attic" and "Draw the line"

Mike B : Aerosmith are the American version of the Rolling Stones. Led by singer Steven Tyler and lead guitarist Tom Perry, they are a hard rock band with their roots in the Blues. Their classic five rock albums, Aerosmith, Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic, Rocks and Draw the Line are all worth several listens. After that the effects of a too fast lifestyle took its' toll and Tom Perry even left the band for a couple of years. They were actually saved from obscurity by the rap group Run DMC who did a version of their song "Walk This Way" on which Perry played and Tyler sang. After the MTV and radio airplay, Aerosmith reinvented themselves as a hit-making machine in the 90s and today with songs like "Love in an Elevator", "Janie's Got a Gun", "Crazy" and "Livin on the Edge". For classic blues driven rock, please give a listen to the early albums.
