Clash

From North England

Listed under : Punk before 1976

White Riot, Londons burning. One of the first Punk groups to "make it".

Masters of White reggae with songs such as Police and Theives.

    Members
  • Mick Jones : guitar, vocals
  • Joe Strummer : vocals, rhythm guitar
  • Paul Simonon : bass, vocals
  • Topper Headon : drums

Dan : The first Clash drummer (as in on the first album "the Clash") was called Tory Crimes, Topper Headon came in on the second album.

Chris : Tory Crimes was not a real person, at the time The Clash was released the band did not have a drummer so the expression was used more as a reflection of the bands political views than anyhing else. It might also be a play on the name of the original drummer Terry Chimes who stayed on to provide the drumming talent for the album although he had officially quit the band. He was replaced shortly after by Nicky "Topper" Headon to complete the classic Clash line up.
