Kiss

From USA

Listed under : Hard Rock 1970-1980

A hard/heavy/glam rock band.

Kevin Given: Kiss has more gold albums than any other American band including Aerosmith! They are third behind the Beatles and the Rolling Stones for Gold albums of all time! (The Beatles and the Stones both had a decade head start on Kiss too!).

John : Kiss has never had a number one single in the USA and yet they have sold more CD's than most bands. The reason that Kiss has been so BIG for so long is because they give there fans what they want.Sometimes you have to pay alot for it sometimes you don't.
Also, the origional members all sing. The only other band that I can remember doing that was the Beatles.

Orville Lee : KISS was never about critical praise or integrity. They sold their soul to the corporations in the mid seventies becoming larger than life superhoeroes with an ever younger fan base. Before the never ending farewell tours, KISS kaskets, pin ball machines, toys, and subpar albums, KISS was a raw, hard, garage rock band for the people.

Their first three albums the self titled KISS (1974), Hotter than Hell (1974), and Dressed to Kill (1975) are straigh ahead, balls out (excuse the rock cliche') albums penned exclusively by band members on the most part. It would be exchanged for a more glossy production, teams of song writers and studio musicians and a larger than life stage show for the remaindeer of their long bloated career. The live album "Alive" was the pinnacle of those early days ending one chapter and beginning another.

Kiss would never be a band again but a brand.
