Momo : The horror punk band was formed in Lodi, NJ on April 1977 by original vocalist Glenn Danzig. They had a totally dif. style from the rest of the punk scene at that time. the first bassist was an obscure Diana Diplaza, but she played for only a month and was replaced by Jerry Only, the only original(or closest to it) Misfit. There are so many changes in the line-up, too many for an eager 13 yr old like me to list :).
In 1983, the Misfits broke up b/c Glenn left the band to form goth metal band Samhain (later known as "Danzig"). There was a decade long legal battle over claims to the Misfits name. Jerry and brother/ guitarist Doyle went on to what i call "christian metal" band Kryst the Conqueror. If I wasnt so into the Misfits I would have something to say about this project.
On 1996 (I believe?) court let Jerry and Doyle play as the Misfits. On May 1997, AMERICAN PSYCHO was released by a big record label Geffen Records. Also a lot of merchandise. WCW contracts. once again many changes in the line-up including Michael Graves and Marky Ramones from popular punk band The Ramones.
There is so much more to their story but to make this quick: These facts are in no order whatsoever.
-Misfits launch M25 TOUR on 2001.
-Jerry came up with devilock accidentally. it "just came" to him. -die hard Misfits fans are called "fiends".
-Fiend skull is official logo for misfits.
-During American Psycho tour (?) while Danzig and Misfits were playing in the same town Glenn was approached by Jerry and Doyle in his hotel room to join the band again but Glenn ended up calling security.
-Misfits influences include B- Horror Movies, Generation X and Iggy Pop.
-Metallica are big supporters of the Misfits.
-Jerry and Doyle built their own guitars from their father's factory.
