Red Hot Chilli Peppers

From USA

Listed under : Punk 1981-1990

jill : I heard a friend's RHCP album in late 70s and loved it so much I spent next 5 years scouring secondhand record stores to find the same LP. Was finally successful in Auckland, New Zealand where I found one (without scratches)in the markets there only to have my then husband give it away about 10 months later. He couldn't understand why I was so upset. Almost 20 years later (and a new husband)I still resent him for this. I never heard of them again until 1990s and cannot recall the name of the album but I seem to remember a song about being on the road / a trip and drinking coffee in a truckstop / roadside cafe. Does this sound familiar? Anyway, I'd appreciate it if you could give some indication of whether my memory serves me correctly?

Ross: Red Hot Chili Peppers is a California-based rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The current band members are Anthony Kiedis (lead vocals), Michael Balzary, or Flea (Bass)(ed. Best in the World ?), John Frusciante (Guitar/Backing vocals), and Chad Smith (Drums).

Even though they have experienced numerous line-up changes and personal problems, the band has successfully created a sound that combines elements of funk, punk, rap, psychedelic rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative Rock and lately pop-punk. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have maintained commercial and critical success since their breakthrough Blood Sugar Sex Magik was released in 1991. Over the past 23 years, they have produced nine studio albums which have sold nearly 50 million copies worldwide and hold the record for most #1 Modern Rock hits with nine.
