Punk comes back

The Sex Pistols announce a come back with a concert at the Brixton Academy in November 2007 in London...

Even if you think the Ramones or Clash were better, the Sex Pistols still symbolize the first generation of Punk, the energy and anger were enough to push them through.

Even if you consider they exists only because of M.Mclaren, they made such an impact that music real began to change.

  • Steve Jones
  • Paul Cook
  • Glen Matlock (left to form Rich Kids)

Gram : The Sex Pistols came out at a time when music was "safe", "smug" and worst of all "boring".
Bands like "Emerson Lake & Palmer" and "Yes" were producing grandiose albums in the belief that they were musically the equivalent of classical genius.
While really it was boring, egotistical and dope ridden crap.

The "Pistols" were young and exciting, they said what they thought and they wanted music for "My Generation".
Anarchy in the UK, Pretty Vacant and God Save the Queen were all about the sad state of the 1970's, politically and musically. Particularly for England the band was much needed, and they were a breath of fresh air for teenagers of the time. They inspired similar bands such as the Clash, Buzzcocks, Adverts and Siouxsie & the Banshees.Even U2 and Simple Minds would have not existed without the punk scene of 76-80 in the UK.The young Johnny Rotten was inspiration to a generation and all across the world his attitude and spiky haired (anti)fashion style were copied.Steve Jones guitar "wall of noise" created a style for hundreds of similar bands of the time. They didn't play fast thrash like the Ramones, but it was loud and exciting and actually "said something" relevant to young people of the time.
