Jam, the

From London, England

Listed under : Rock 1971-1980

The Jam came to the forefront during the 70's Punk Explosion. More of a rock band than Punk, the London born trio, helped revive the Mod movement, both in dress and the instruments being used. A fast paced music with much technical skill on behalf of the musicians. It was great to watch these guys playing Rickenbackers.

They were influenced by the Motown sounds taking up songs like Midnight hour and 60's rock groups like the Who.

Some of their best songs where In the city, Eaton Rifles and Down in The Tube Station at Midnight.

The group carried on, whilst the Punk movement faded into the New Wave era, the trio having a solid international carrier up to 1982, when Paul Weller split the band and later formed Style Council.

  • Paul Weller : vocals, guitar
  • Bruce Foxton : vocals, bass
  • Rick Buckler vocals, drums

Rick Buckler ??? : thejamfan.net Extensive information on Britain's greatest band. Gig list 1974-1982, chart positions and details of singles, albums and DVD. Interviews, photographs and the crew.
