Calling all Who fans

Check out http://www.thewhomovie.com, seeking material from fans to make a new film.

The group was born in Shepards Bush, London (1964), and grew up with the British Rock movement. Influencing and influenced by the Mod movement, they still kept a unique way of making music.
The original line up was Roger Daltrey (vocal), John Entwistle (bass), Pete Townshend (lead guitar) and Keith Moon (drums).

Live, they were one the best, the concert at Leeds (Live at Leeds album) had a huge effect on what was to become Hard Rock. Woodstock, Wembley and the Isle Of Wight concerts are also very important for the Who.

One of my favourites, I was born too late to be an original fan, my older friends introduced me to the group. I was offered the Story of the Who album (double cassette), after that I managed to get most of the albums.

The great albums are: Live at Leeds, Quadrophenia (makes me cry), Who's Next.

Best songs: Magic bus (live), 5.15, Summertime blues, Wont get fooled again, Behind Blue Eyes, Baba O'Riley
I disagree with people who consider Tommy as the best work. Listen to the power of the music on Quadrophenia and Who's next.

The list of the main albums by the group.

  • The Kids Are Alright
  • Odds And Sods
  • Meaty, Beaty Big And Bouncy
  • Tommy
  • Quadrophenia
  • Live At Leeds
  • Who Are You
  • The Who By Numbers
  • Who's Next
  • The Who Sell Out

If you do not really know the music of the Who, try a compilation album such as The Story of the Who, it will give you a good idea of the different styles of the group.

Roberts : Baba O'Riley : The name is taken from Townshend's avatar the Meher Baba and avant-garde, composer Terry Riley. Also, while Tommy may not be their best work, it was monumental in that it was rightly billed as the first-ever 'rock opera.' Also unmentioned is the album 'A Quick One' ('Happy Jack in the U.S.) which featured another innovative idea, the 'mini-opera' of 'A Quick One, While He's Away'.

With Townshend's great songwriting, pioneering use of synthesizers, and trademark windmill arm, Daltrey's whirling microphone as frontman, Entwistle's spectacular bass lines, and Moon's thundering drum breaks, the Who were arguably the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world, ever.
