comment : These albums are incredible! This is what rock is all about... Van Halen was an amazing group with so much talent! They were a unique group with amazing abilities. Van Halen is Hard rock!

Orville Lee : I saw Van Halen twice in concert. Once in October of 1991 with future grunge rockers Alice in Chains and again in September 1995 with Canadian Rockers Our Lady Peace. I've seen many concerts and Van Halen are still the loudest band I've ever witnessed and heard. They Blew my ear drums.

Van Halen set the standard for 80's heavy metal and hard rock incorporating equal parts guitar ferocity, pop sensibilities, and honest rock and roll. There has always been outcries of fans wanting Diamond Dave (David L. Roth) back in the fold but their better without. He was a product of the era, gimmicky at times, part lounge singer and over indulgent rock dinosaur.

With Sammy, Van Halen became more credible and honest. The focus was on the music more and the bands abilities to perform a good ol' fashioned rockin roll show. There like a anthemic bar band that survived the grunge wave that(thankfully) wiped the rockin roll slate clean. (Good riddance Poison, Cinderella, Motley Crue, etc, etc). Good music is timeless as is Van Halen, AC/DC, Aerosmith and so on.

With a much publicized break up in 1997 with Sammy, a disastrous stunt with David Lee Roth, and an ill-fated album with Gary Cherone, Van Halen is back where they belong. Behind Sammy. Sammy Hagar was actually doing fine making records, running his bar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and making tequila. Van Halen needed him more than he needed them. It's good to have them back and this time all the greed and arrogance seems to be history.

Rich : Van Halen was discovered by Gene Simmons, of KISS, while playing a show at The Starwood, in November 1976.
