1930

The first electric guitar is developed by Rickenbacker

1936

Gibson release their first electric guitar

1951

Leo Fender introduced the Broadcaster, the prototype solid-body guitar which became the legendary Fender Telecaster®

1953

April : Bill Haley and the Comets make the first rock and roll hit on Billboard charts with Crazy, man, crazy.

1954

July 5 : Presley recorded his first single, "That's All Right, Mama"

1958

January 25 : Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" became the first single to enter the British music charts at No. 1

1960

The Pop Art of Andy Warhol emerges.

1962

July 12: The Rolling Stones play their first concert in the Marquee club, London.

1963

November 22 : J.F. Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas.

1964

Student sit-in at Berkeley university, striking for Free Speech.

1965

May 27 : The Roling Stones relase (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

1967

1 June : The Beatles releaser Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

1968

May : French students riot and take siege in government buildings.

Martin Luther King is assassinated

1969

August 20-22 : Woodstock Music and Art Fair (Woodstock Festival) is held and is one of the most important events for the in Rock music history.

October 1 : The Beatles release the album Abbey Road.

1970

December 31 : The Beatles split up.

1971

The music program "Old Grey Whistle Test" begins on the BBC tv presented by Bob Harris

1976

November : The Sex Pistols first single, "Anarchy in the UK"

1977

The Sex Pistols release God Save the Queen.

August 16: Elvis Presley dies

October 20 : Fatal plane crash killing 4 members of Lynyrd Skynrd.

1978

Roland release the first programmable drum machine, the CR-88 and the the DR55 in the following year.

1979

May 3 : Margret Thatcher elected prime minister in Great Britain.

1980

Philips invent the audio CD.

1983

The Midi standard (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is released, the "inventor" is Dave Smith.

1989

The German company Steinberg release the first version of Cubase

1991

Nirvana release "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from the Nevermind album
